Miss Cumbria, Charlotte Bacon, reflects on the Miss England Weekend.
So Miss England has been and gone!
I arrived in Torquay mid-day on Saturday, and was greeted by the Miss England Team, a series of interviews and photographs took place before lunching with the rest of the contestants taking part in the competition.
The afternoon was filled with various activities ~ X treme Boot Camp which involved circuit training, a burpee bleep test, followed by an endurance ‘plank’ hold with the longest time held finally deciding the winner – the successful contestant being fast-tracked to the top 15.
This part of the competition endeavoured to find the fittest contestant, I found the circuit test a little challenging, however, given the ongoing issues with my knees found the burpee bleep test extremely difficult to withstand for long, and so eventually had to withdraw after the pain became too much, nevertheless, it was great fun!
Saturday evening, was spent watching those contestants who were selected for the Talent Show & Halo Hair competition at the Riviera Centre, with the successful winner of Miss Halo Hair announced on the night.
The final decision for the most talented competitor was announced later on in the Miss England Finals on Monday evening and once again the winners were fast-tracked to the top 15.
Mr World was also being held over the weekend; part of Saturday and Sunday was spent in rehearsals in preparation of the Mr World Finals which took place later on Sunday evening. I was selected to escort Mr Mexico on stage; and was delighted when he took third place in the competition!
Monday was our big day, further rehearsals included the Eco fashion catwalk. The final ended with Carina Tyrrell from Cambridge, winning the title, a very worthy winner indeed as she won four preliminary rounds of the competition!
I cannot explain enough how much of an amazing experience being part of Miss England was, I met so many beautiful girls (inside and out) that I will definitely be keeping in touch with.
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself,” perfect summary of my experience thus far!
