I entered Miss Cumbria whilst I was walking through town and happened to get scouted for a photo. It’s not something I would have signed myself up for so I’m so glad I got spotted because it was the best experience of my life!

The whole experience was amazing but I have to say that it is such a confidence booster getting up on the stage in front of the crowd.

Taking part in Miss Cumbria gave me so much more confidence and it’s made me want to carry on modelling.

If you’re thinking of entering – Go for it!!! It’s amazing!

I can’t explain how much I loved taking part in the miss Cumbria final I loved every minute of it and hopefully one day I get to do it again.

I Had an Amazing Time

It was originally one of my best friends who entered me for Miss Cumbria; because I was determined I wouldn’t even get past the first stage. It just shows you how wrong you can be!

I had an amazing time, and entering me was definitely one of the best things my friends have done.

Since the experience I’ve had a MASSIVE confidence boost, which helps in more than just modelling. That’s the best part of the whole experience, but during the finals, the best part was the friends we all made throughout the day!

I’ve had a huge confidence boost from taking part in Miss Cumbria and I’m not afraid to pick clothes that make me stand out any more. I have worn totally different styles of clothes, and tried so many new things with hair and make-up. I picked up lots of style tips from the other girls.

If you’re thinking of entering Miss Cumbria, you won’t be disappointed! All the team are LOVELY, you have great fun, and a huge confidence boost by the end!

I would definitely do it again!

Go For It

I entered Miss Cumbria because I felt that the experience would be really good for me. I had seen it advertised in the paper and I thought I would give it a go. I hadn’t had any other experience with anything like this before.

The best part of the experience was the official day of Miss Cumbria. Meeting all of the other girls and working with professionals was really good fun, I learnt a lot from it.

Taking part in Miss Cumbria gave me the confidence to go on to achieve anything I set my mind at. I never thought I would have got as far as I did, so it was really helpful in building my character.

If you’re thinking of entering go for it! Anything is possible, even if you don’t think you would get anywhere just try you never know what you could find out.

I Met Friends For Life

Me and my friend both decided to enter Miss Cumbria just as a bit of fun, I never expected to get to the final!

The whole day was amazing but getting ready for the show was my favourite bit because that’s when all the girls got to mingle and chat. I met friends for life.

Miss Cumbria has improved my confidence.

Good luck if you’re entering, enjoy every second of it and not enter it with the thought of needing to win!

Everybody is a winner and every contestant is beautiful. The day goes so quick but you meet great people and are part of an amazing experience.

I loved every second and would love to be part of the experience again!

Confidence Boost

I entered Miss Cumbria for a confidence boost and because it was something I had never done before. I wanted to achieve something and feel good about myself.

I enjoyed all of it from choosing outfits to abseiling for the variety club charity. Also meeting the girls and making new friends!

Entering Miss Cumbria gave me the boost I needed and open some doors in modelling.

Helped My Confidence

The fascination of the competition and meeting new people made me enter Miss Cumbria again, from having a great experience the previous year I wanted to try again

Meeting everyone and just the enjoyment of the day, seeing old friends and meeting new was the best part of the day.

Entering certainly helped my confidence and self esteem, made me realise what I could actually do with my life.

Cara Does Cumbria Proud at Miss England

Miss Cumbria, Cara Forrester, took part in the Miss England Finals earlier this week and was a credit to the area.

The Finals, consisting of 61 girls, were held over two days at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham on Monday and Tuesday.

Cara took part in the Welcome Party, an Eco Fashion Show and Talent round on the Monday evening.

In the Eco Fashion Show the 61 girls had all created their own outfits from either recycled, re-used or ethically sourced materials.

On the Tuesday Cara took part in the main event which consisted of an opening scene wearing a specially created Miss England Dress created by leading fashion designer Karen Karmody, an Evening Wear section and a Sports Wear Finale.

Cara closely missed out on a Top 15 place in a fiercely contested Final.

Alize Lily Mounter was crowned Miss England in a ceremony which was streamed live online.

Cara said of her experience;

“I was delighted to be given the opportunity to represent Cumbria on such a big occasion”

“I’ve made so many new friends from all over the country, all the girls were so lovely”

Boot Camp

Miss Cumbria, Cara Forrester was put through her paces “Army Style” last Monday as part of her preparation for the Miss England Finals.

Cara travelled down to the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham for the Miss England Sports Boot Camp Event.

Army Physical Training Instructors from www.regimentfitness.co.uk put all 61 finalists through a gruelling 2 hour fitness test.

The contestants took part in warm up exercises as well as Army Drills including Press Ups, Sit Ups, Burpies and Shuttle Runs.

The Top 20 contestants were then “rewarded” by taking part in one final test, the Army Bleep Test.

A running endurance test where the prize for the last girl standing was a fast track place in the Top 15 at the Miss England Final.

Cara did magnificently, but narrowly lost out to eventual Miss England Sportswoman award winner
Jade Williams (Miss Stratford Upon Avon).

Cara said of the experience;

“I’ve had a fantastic day, even thought it was really tough, it was a great chance to meet all the other Finalists. “

Cara now has 3 weeks to prepare for the Miss England Final on 19th July in Birmingham.

Miss Cumbria Final

A Full House of 200 people watched the Miss Cumbria Final in aid of the Variety Club Children’s Charity at the Stanwix Arts Theatre, Carlisle tonight.

Girls from all over Cumbria were vying to win the Miss Cumbria title and a place in the Miss England Final.

The girls took part in a 4 scene catwalk fashion show (Sports Wear, Summer Wear, Black Dress and Sparkles and Evening Wear) and awards ceremony.

All contestants had been busy fundraising over the past couple of months and raised a magnificent total of £9553.81 for the Children’s Charity.

Cumbria Awards Results

Miss Popularity Cumbria (Public Vote) went to Tara Pearson, 20, from Cockermouth. Tara works as a secretary in a Solicitors Office.

Miss Charity Cumbria (most funds raised for the Variety Club) – Was also won by Tara Pearson who raised a magnificent £1201.50.

5th Place – Aimee McGarvie, 18, from Carlisle

4th Place – Tara Pearson, 20, from Cockermouth

3rd Place – Charlotte Foster, 21, from Abbey Town

2nd Place – Jordyn Johnston, 17, from Wetheral

Winner of Miss Cumbria 2011 – Cara Forrester, 17, from Carlisle

Cara is currently a student at Caldew Sixth Form (as is Jordyn Johnston). They are both currently study for their exams.

Cara will now take part in the Miss England Final at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham in July

This year, contests of Miss Cumbria were dedicated to raising money for The Variety Club Childrens’ Charity, who help disabled and disadvantaged children. All contestants worked hard and enthusiastically to raise as much as they possibly could for the charity. The girl who raised the most would be awarded Miss Charity Cumbria presented with a sash, award and a stunning watch from Delanicci Extreme.

Much more than a beauty pageant or modelling competition, the organisers of Miss Cumbria are looking for an ambassador for the area. Someone well presented, confident and able to communicate are just some of the qualities that the judges will be looking for. Our winner will be actively encouraged to use their title to promote the area and raise the profile of many worthy causes throughout their year.

The Miss World motto is “Beauty with a Purpose” and this is something we fully subscribe to. Our aim is to raise as much money as possible for the Variety Club Children’s Charity through contestant fundraising and activities.
The winner could be an existing model, beauty pageant contestant or a complete newcomer. Many Miss England heat winners have won their heats with no prior experience. It could be you!

Miss Cumbria is open to any girl who will be aged 17-24 on 31st December 2010 who was either born, has lived, works or studies in the Cumbria. Entrants must have never been married and have no children. Full rules are available in the “Enter Now” section.
